Gratitude is so important.

Seriously, if you haven’t just thanked Heavenly Father for everything you have, now is the time to do that. Help others often. Don’t hold back, you have been blessed with so much!

Sometimes you’ll start to fall from the gospel, but I am continually grateful for the fact that it stayed in my heart through everything in my life, as it does in all of our lives.

Daughter of the King (by Jordan Mooney)

this is a poem about individual worth and divine nature.

What is on your mind?

What’s on your shoulders?

Is it your appearance?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Why must you cry?

Was someone mean?

Did someone take away your self esteem?

Right now, you may feel weighted down,

Remember, you’re an heir to a very special crown.

He is your Father, good blessings he doth bring.

You are his daughter, a child of the king.

You took the road less travelled by,

Since you lived with him before, you’ve been choosing the right.

and one day, I hope that you’ll understand,

You were carefully crafted by the Master’s hand.

I want you to know that I love every single one of you.(: This past year has been very special for me. This has been my first year as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was baptised on April 9th, 2011. I wrote this poem in a time when I was having issues with myself. I was lacking individual worth. I wrote into this poem, something that I wished someone would tell me. But now I know that it’s true for every Daughter and Son of God. I’ve been very emotionally torn. About my own worth, and what it means to be a child of God, etc. but now I have a testimony that the Church is true, and that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me so very much(and of course, I love him too), and I have a Saviour, and he lives. and he atoned for our sins. I know that we are children of the King, and there is no reason to feel like we’re not beautiful or skinny enough, because beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder. I know that He loves us all, enough to sacrifice his only begotten Son for us. and most of all, I am still strengthening this testimony every day. and I say these things in the name of our precious Saviour and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Amen. (:

For the People on the Other Side of the Veil (by Callie Collins)

My close friend, Callie Collins wrote this, and I think its worth sharing. (:

Think of your favorite TV, film, or book hero or heroine. Now, picture yourself in the audience of your chosen main character. Pick that hero or heroine you love and support through the thick or thin times in life. Because of this love and support, we now find ourselves as the ones watching the shows no matter how many seasons the show attains. We are the ones yelling at the book or screen. We are desperately pleading with our hero to beware of opening that shady looking door, dramatic plot twists, and that mischievous masked enemy they don’t know about yet but we do. Sadly, it doesn’t matter how hard we yell at that screen or open page because they can’t hear us. Our beloved character can’t hear our needed advice. Yet, through it all, the best part of the hero is, even though the advice would have been nice, they succeeded.

Now, I’m going to change your perspective, still based upon this principle. Think of yourself. Now, picture an audience of people watching you. They have made you their beloved hero or heroine. They love you and are watching hoping to aid you against the growing plot twists, bad decisions, and dark enemies on your horizon. Alas, it doesn’t matter how hard they yell because you can’t hear them. Thus, you can’t hear their much needed advice. Now, it’s based on faith if you will succeed or fail.

By now, I bet you’re wondering ‘who is this audience that is watching me?’ As a result to this question, I finally feel ready to give you the title of my talk which is about the people on the other side of the veil. Also, just in case you were wondering ‘why are so many people taking interest in your mortality?’ The answer was answered simply by Elder Neil L. Anderson. “Before immortality, there must be mortality.” They want you to succeed. You’re the hero, remember.

Back to your audience and who they could be, you would know better than I. However, I do know your audience is vast, to say the least. Your viewers could run down your whole family tree back to Adam and Eve. Who knows a great, great, grand parent might be checking in on their present earth-bound family members. Personally, when I think of who’s watching me, I think more pre-mortal existence. I think future more than past.

I pictured my future kids sometimes. Normally, I really freak myself out because what if they’re trying to learn from me right now as I think of them. Over the course of these thoughts, I found I want to be the best I can be so I don’t teach my children bad traits from the veil. I want them to obtain many traits and blessing before coming here and I become their earthly guardian. In my mind, I nervously repeat be steadfast, be steadfast, be steadfast.

What truly eases my stress comes from remembering one of my youth themes or scripture verse for that year. Joshua 1:9 reads: “Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

Also, if they look at me as a hero, even for a moment, then I better be doing the right thing and have my priorities in gear. Because we have been warned “that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets.”

We know to help our future and present audience we must be strong in the now… yesterday, tomorrow, etc. Now, it’s time to pay attention to our audience members that have already passed this life.

Elder David A. Bednar quoted prophet Joseph Smith in his talk named ‘The Hearts of the Children Shall Turn.’ In it the “prophet Joseph Smith declared: “The greatest responsibility in this world that God has laid upon us is to seek after our dead…. For it is necessary that the sealing power should be in our hands to seal our children and our dead for the fullness of the dispensation of times- a dispensation to meet the promises made by Jesus Christ before the foundation of the world for the salvation of man.”

My fellow friends, Elder Bednar’s title is instructive. ‘The Hearts of the Children Shall Turn’. We are God’s children and we need to turn towards those across the veil together. With this righteous desire, we could bless with the Spirit of Elijah affecting “people inside and outside of the Church” and become their heroes.

In closing, in the second paragraph of The Family A Proclamation to the World it reads: “All Human Beings- male or female- are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny.”

You are beloved by so many, if only you could see them. You are a hero. Please down take me as vain by saying we are heroes for I view a hero as someone that makes a different for the greater man, our Heavenly Father’s sons and daughters. I challenge you to “look into the eyes of a child” and “see a fellow son or daughter of God who stood with us in the premortal life” (knowing that a child is not just kids 11 and under) or take the challenge to experience the spirit of Elijah. Both bless our siblings who are beyond the veil.

Be the champion of your destiny so God may say ‘Well done. Thy good and faithful servant’ and, again I repeat, how much you are loved, so beloved in the eyes of your infinite audience.

And I say this humbly and yearning to assist those on the other side of the veil in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

socallds asked: I'm reporting to the Provo, UT MTC on April 25th! I'll be serving in the Utah Salt Lake City South mission, and I've never been so excited in my life. I know the Lord knows us personally and has called me to serve there for specific reasons. Missionary work is the greatest work! It brings families together, and everyone closer to God. :)

Congratulations! That will be so fulfilling for you, I’m sure. :)

thisscarisafreck asked: Yes, several women do choose to go on missions(I know a few). Most choose to remain unmarried until they finish their missions at age 22 1/2

faith-isthe-bird asked: I dunno if I'll be serving a full-time mission but I'm going to start doing some kind of missionary work in the future. : ) I love the Church and TOMORROW I GO TO THE TEMPLE FOR THE FIRST TIME!

Yay! From what I understand, missionary work is so spiritually fulfilling. I love the Church too, lol. :) and the temple is a wonderful place with many blessings. I went for the first time in october. You’ll love itttt(I hope)! Hope you enjoy your time at the temple tomorrow. :)

haha.

Are there any Mormon women who have made the decision to go on a mission?

Either planning for a mission or have already gone on one?
Share your story or testimony of missionary work! Just submit it and I’ll post it.  :)

Even if you’re a guy, you can post here too of course. Most people don’t get missionary stories from women, so that’s why I specifically asked. We love missionary stories here at Mormon101! :)

  • Well, we ARE Mormons…
  • At least one of us is going to need multiple rooms to hold all of our kids on a cruise.
  • After all, we ARE Mormons…
  • There’ll always be SOMEONE pregnant and waddling around like a duck.
  • I mean, we ARE Mormons…
